Deepholm

12.13.10 at 12:12 am (Uncategorized)

Yay! We’re finally done with deepholm. I can’t say that I liked it there at all. We finished up last night, but I was too tired to really do anything but take the entery quest to Uldum. I think I’m gonna like that zone, and from what I’ve seen of it today, I already like it. 8) I took a pic of the Throne of Therazine (or something like that) where you can find the Earthmother. She’s .. interesting to say the least.

I’ll write some more later, maybe .. we’re heading out to do swimming. Mr. R could really use a way to burn off some energy, and the other two of us could use a way to burn off some calories. Grandma is watching the baby, so it’s all good. Hooray for free swim time at the Y!

So that’s why you gotta set the parking break while on a hill …

12.10.10 at 9:22 pm (Uncategorized)

Mood: Relieved
Kids: One playing iPhone, the other swinging and sleeping
Music: WoW backround music from T’s computer

Sigh. So I was home all of five minutes when I needed to go out to the car to get my phone. My parents are gonna borrow my car to take their microwave back to the states, and we were looking like crazy for the reciept for some xmas lights that need to be returned because they were the wrong colour. My dad and I walk outside to go to my car, and it’s GONE! After a moment of panic .. wondering who took my car we look down the hill and see it sitting on the neigbour’s lawn (and on his retaining wall). It’s okay .. not even a scratch on it (thankfully) and so it the wall that he just built. Stupid me forgot to set the parking break, so it rolled down the hill and into his yard. Thankfully no one was hurt, the car is okay, and so is his newly built wall. I spun the wheels trying to get it off the lawn though, so I’ll have to patch that. And after all that .. I didn’t get a picture for my blog even though I went out to get my phone!

I hope this isn’t an indication of how the rest of my day is gonna go. :(

wth?

12.10.10 at 4:34 am (Aniraiel, WoW)

Mood: A little sad
Music: Nothing
Kids: One watching xmas cartoons, the other eating a bottle

Well .. so much for all my posts that I made on my iPhone. I’ve been posting (though honestly not nearly as much as I wanted to) from my iPhone, but NONE of them have shown up here. 8( I only found out about it today because I was going to post some things from Ani’s latest foray into the Cataclysm and saw nothing was here. I almost cried .. 3 months of blogs .. gone!

Sigh. Anyway. Here’s what I wanted to post from Ani’s pov. I just thought they were beautiful and worthy of the picture of the day.

Sunrise in the mountains

08.17.10 at 1:00 pm (Uncategorized)

So I just can’t sleep. The baby is dancing up a storm in my tummy.. so much so that he woke me up, and my dear Toddkins is sawing logs so I figured I’d just get up. I’m really not tired anyway.

I woke up in enough time to make a cup of coffee and sit out on the deck to watch the sun rise. It’s beautiful and quiet here.. like one of those nature tracks I bought for white noise at home. I tried recording a couple minutes on my iPhone but I don’t know how well it worked.

I also tried taking some pictures but the 3GS and sunrises just don’t mix. This will be the documented proof and help to stir up memories I guess. Wish I knew the names of all these birds welcoming the morning with me.

A week at the cottage

08.12.10 at 8:48 pm (Uncategorized)

We’re staying at a place called ‘the cottages’ but they seem a lit more like cabins than cottages to me. We’re surrounded by giant pines and there’s a lot of wood details on the outsides of these places.

Inside our cottage we have a lot of dark leather furnishings, and tables designed to show off their woods. Two of the end tables look like sawed off stumps.. But they’re actually very beautiful.

As far as I know there’s no lake access here but there are swimming pools, two hot tubs, a weight room, an out door playground and a catch and release fishing pond. It’s not that far to the lake actually, and there are all the usual fun things to do too: fishing, boating, golfing, water slides etc. Fun times.

What was he thinking?

07.27.10 at 3:26 am (Uncategorized)

My 4 year old decided to swallow a screw today. Okay, he didn’t decide to swallow it .. just put it in his mouth, and accidentally swallowed it. The result is the same though: a trip to the hospital. He was in tears when they came to tell me. I think he was scared, and it hurt going down. By the time we got there though, he was calmed down a lot and wasn’t in any pain. Of course, I wanted to make sure we still saw the doc since he couldn’t tell us anything about the screw. Was it rusty? Pointed? Three inches long? He just said it was a ‘top screw’. Image searches on my iPhone revealed no such thing .. and apparently Daddy told him it was a top screw.

I could tell he was going to be okay when he darted out of the X-ray room and yelled that he was just going to have to poop it out. Sure enough, we waited another 30mins or so and the doc told us the same thing. All and all it was a harrowing experience mostly for us parents. My son’s memories probably going to be of playing his iPod touch in the wait room, the X-ray tech giving him a sticker, and of the X-ray itself which shows a very obvious screw in his belly.

For me though, it’s a painful reminder of how hard it is to deal with bureaucracy. He STILL doesn’t have his medical card even though he’s been here a year. Every time I call they tell me it’s in processing, and it takes 30 days for processing. I’ve sent the stupid thing (and all the information they’ve asked for) more than once. I’ve even talked to them on the phone and was told by more than one person that I didn’t even have to send anything along since he was a Canadian citizen by being born to one (me). Left hand .. right hand..

Maybe I should photocopy the hospital bill when I get it so I can send it to both hands. Maybe one of them will get their fingers out of my wallet long enough to pay it .. or at the very least send me his card.

Would you give your seat up on the skytrain to someone who is pregnant if you’re sitting in the seats designated for ‘elderly, expecting mothers, or new mothers?’

07.27.10 at 3:17 am (Uncategorized)

So today I went to another store to pick up something, and I rode on the skytrain both ways. Now I’m not one of those pregnant ladies who believe that the world should revolve around my belly, but I was shocked that no one offered me a seat. Yes, I could have asked for one, and people might have given me one, but it was only 2 stations so I didn’t really need a seat bad enough to ask for one. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I would expect that if you aren’t elderly, or carrying a kid in your arms or something, that you would offer your seat to someone in need (aka someone who does have a kid in their arms or belly, or an elderly person.) ESPECIALLY if she’s standing right in front of you and you happen to be sitting in one of the only two seats on the train that are clearly marked ‘Reserved for the elderly, pregnant mothers, or new mothers.’ I’m 7 months pregnant .. my baby bump looks decidedly like a baby bump .. not the obscure ‘is the fat or expecting’ stage. And it wasn’t just one way.. it was both directions. Four different people. Seriously  .. I do have to admit that they had guts.

My only regret is that I thought it would be too rude to take pictures of them.

I swear I was waiting until I got home to edit my picture and make my post for yesterday.. But then life happens as life does. We went out to eat and I was so tired from lack if sleep from the night before. I was literally up all night worrying about things that I knew better than to worry about but couldn’t help it.
Anyway, I’m at work again but figured I’d better post something about yesterday before I post for today. 8)

7/22 raid

07.23.10 at 4:08 am (WoW)

So SoaL wasn’t running tonight. They’re were trying to finish off some Ulda hard modes.

Instead I ran with Tastes Like Burning, and we finished ToC10 by one shotting everything. Then we did OS10 normal, and I did a couple runs on Maly, but to no avail.

Then I jumped into Hate the Drake with Warak’s group and tried a couple runs on heroic Yoggs. That was the first time I saw that fight, so that was fun. We made some progress but only got Yoggs down to 87%.

I need to relearn how to take screen shots on my mac so I can put some of them up here.

Did a random. Beh. That’s about it.

WordPress and iPhone

07.22.10 at 10:44 pm (Uncategorized)

Hmm. WordPress on my iPhone. Let’s see how it works!

I remember seeing an app for my phone where you take a picture every day and it makes it into a calendar for you. While I don’t need the calendar, I do like the idea of a picture a day. Here’s my first picture, posted from my phone. It’s actually not too bad .. just a random shot of some junk on my desk.
